Enterprise Rent-A-Car

As the Human Resources Director of European Operations for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Donna Miller oversees all aspects of people development for Enterprise in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany, which includes more than 4,700 employees. In her 16 years with the company, she has been instrumental in the recruitment growth for Enterprise in the U.S., Canada and Europe and now serves as one of the company’s officers.

Like the majority of Enterprise’s officers, Donna began her career at Enterprise in the company’s Management Training program, where she worked with customers at a rental branch in the Southern California region. As a Management Trainee, she learned the Enterprise business from the ground up, from providing superior customer service to developing and implementing marketing plans and managing profit and loss statements. In 1991, within one year of her start with the company, Donna was leading the human resources and recruitment efforts for one of the Southern California regions.

After serving as Human Resources Manager in Southern California, Donna was promoted to the position of Group Human Resources Manager, and oversaw HR operations for four states in the New York/New Jersey area of the country. In 1997, she was promoted to Corporate Human Resources Manager, and moved to Enterprise’s corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. In this position, Donna provided support and assistance to Enterprise operating groups in Canada. After one year, she moved to a similar role to work with European operations. In 2002, Donna was promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President/HR Director of Enterprise’s human resources operations in Europe.

In 2003, Donna moved to England. She is originally from Orange County, California, and graduated from San Diego State University. She lives in Surrey, where she has made her home for the past three years.

Keith Brownlie

Keith was appointed CR Director for Informa plc in January 05.He also holds the role of Group HR Advisor to Informa, s Board for the 7400 staff, employed in 70 countries. He believes the 2 roles are compatible as it is the Informa employees who help make the Groups CR initiatives stronger and more effective.

Keith has been with Informa for 15years and has served in a number of roles including Customer Services; Conference Management and HR.Together with David Gilbertson Group Managing Director he was a member of the management team who bought out Lloyds of London Press from the Corporation of Lloyd,s of London. This led to flotation on the London stock market and the following year to the Merger with IBC and thus to the formation of Informa.

He was previously with Xerox the Document Company where he held a number of Staff and Line Roles. He holds a Masters Degree in Organisational Psychology from Leeds and a Business Degree from Newcastle

Mary Canavan

Mary is Director of Human Resources at The British Library where she is responsible for developing a modernising People Strategy to facilitate the delivery of the Library’s Strategic Agenda. Prior to joining the Library Mary developed her career in London Local Government, working for five diverse and politically different local authorities. She has occupied a variety of senior management and human resources management positions, developing human resources strategies in the context of local government, where modernising HR has been high on the agenda.

Mary was voted HR Director of The Year at the HR Excellence Awards 2005.

Adrian Thornley

Adrian Thornley is HR director at Cluttons. He has over 20 years people and change management experience. He began his career at London Transport as a Business Management Trainee before moving on to Conoco, the American oil and gas company. He spent seven years at Conoco working in both the Upstream and Downstream divisions. Wishing to develop his change management skills Adrian then joined Accenture in their outsourcing division, he spent over five years in the main body of the business and then two as vice president in the Human Resources Outsourcing division 'Accenture HR Services'. Adrian wished to continue in the professional services sector and next moved to the law firm Halliwells as the human resources director, based in Manchester. A desire to move South was accompanied to a move to EC Harris, as head of human resources, the property sector offered a different set of challenges whilst continuing in professional services. Following two years at EC Harris, but wanting to continue in the property sector Adrian has made the move to Cluttons.
