Ray is a leading authority on reward management. He advises a wide range of organisations on the reward implications of business strategy and how reward can be used to increase employee engagement and business performance. His clients include Manchester United, Whitbread, ABB, Porsche Cars, Greggs and Ralph Trustees, owners of one of the largest independent 4* and 5* luxury hotel groups in the UK which includes The Grove, Athenaeum Hotel & Apartments in Mayfair and Runnymede Hotel & Spa. Ray is author of a major new book, The Together Company, which examines the key role of reward strategies in business performance.

Raymond has a B. Sc. (Production Engineering) from Nottingham Trent University and a postgraduate DMS from Glasgow University. Ray is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Ruth Hutchison

Reward Director, Whitbread

Ruth is responsible for pay and benefits frameworks for all levels of employees at Whitbread, including Executive Directors, the balanced scorecard based business performance measurement system which aligns all Whitbread brands and International HR. Prior to this, Ruth was HR Director for TGI Fridays, Group HR Manager at Marriott before the sale of the franchise and Head of Business Quality at Premier Travel Inn. She started her Whitbread career with Thresher, as Learning and Development Manager. Ruth has led several change projects with a significant focus on reward, played a key role in the opening of new Whitbread outlets, and led guest service delivery improvements which are still a key strategic lever for brand success today.
